OUR FOSTER KIDS
Fostering pups and kittens has been extremely rewarding for us. Our aim is to help those we can, and although we know we can’t save them all, it’s nice to be able to give back every now and again. We feel very privileged to have these little tiny-tots come into our lives, and when they head off to new living homes it’s very rewarding. Generally they come to us infested with worms, flea ridden, skinny and malnourished, we give them the love and attention they deserve, fatten them up and get them ready for their new homes (desexed, flead and wormed, microchipped and vaccinated).

Frankie – April 2009

Frankie is in need of a very special home, preferably with a dog or cat as she loves to play despite her rough start. She is a 4 year old Birman who came to us emaciated and terribly malnourished. Once Frankie is healthy she will be desexed and ready for adoption.

Creete – Feb 2009

Sticks – Feb 2009

Creete, now known as Louie has gone to live with a family and their Labrador. Creete was dumped at our dog training centre one Sunday afternoon, although in good health he did not like humans very much. Now he is healthy, happy AND well socialised. Sticks, his sister has also found a lovely home with 1 other cat and also a Labrador!
Herbie – Feb 2009

Herbie was found in a bush, very thin, flea ridden and fluey. he is now a big brave boy who loves cuddles and his food! He has gone to a lovely couple who have made him their special little man.

Murphy

Murphy was 4 weeks of age when I took him from his parents who were feral cats having kittens every 6 months in the backyard of a client. Murphy was brave and decided that unlike the rest of his family he could trust me. He sauntered on up to me and decided we would be friends and the rest is history – Murphy (aka Smurfster) has decided he would like to live here with us, and what Murphy wants Murphy gets.

Sammy, Riley, Tilly & Maggie

Tilly

Riley

Maggie

Sammy
This little family were handed into a council by the owner of the mother cat – needless to say if they had gotten her desexed there wouldn’t be the problem of unwanted kittens. These guys were healthy, happy and well socialised when they came to us. They have all been rehoused to very special homes.

Stevie
Stevie was dumped in a box on the side of the road in Braybrook. A man was sighted dropping the box on the ground and driving off, he did this one Friday afternoon in a storm. The box was picked up by the wind and blown down the road. Stevie fell out and was rescued by a friend of ours. Stevie came to stay with us for 5 weeks and is now a well adjusted happy little girl who has a very lovely home.

Horace (now known as Jenga)
Horace, a 5 week old kitten came to us after being dumped at a vet clinic. Malnourished and possibly deaf Horace spent the first few days here with a very sore tummy. After 2 weeks, he has put on weight, LOVES his kitty milk, runs around like he owns the place and likes to sleep by his terrier foster cousins. He is a special little man who will need a very special home.
February 2008
It just goes to show that some people have more money than sense! These three kittens were seen by a Park Ranger being dumped in a Park. He tried to get the registration number of the car from which they were dumped but unfortunately was not quick enough. All kittens have been successfully rehomed.

“Ninj” (Ginger-Ninja)
January 2008
George, a teeny weeny Rag Doll kitten came to us after he was handed to a vet clinic at just 5 weeks of age. George quickly became a member of the family, loves taking naps with his Aunty Christie and hanging out with Izzy in the garden. George is a brave, adorable little man – we will be very sad to see him leave us but very happy to see him enter a new family and be ‘top cat’.

Angus & Annie -April 07
After two weeks with us Angus and Annie have been adopted in to their new home. They have gone off together and are already much loved and adored.
Angus & Annie
We’ve had tonnes of success stories. Little Man was our most recent kitten, he went to a lovely home and we get regular updates about how well he is doing.
MiniMags, (Little Mans sister) also went to a loving home, she gets to terrorise a Kelpie cross whenever it suits her!!

MiniMags – Feb 07
Unfortunately it’s not all fun and games. Recently we had our first pup that didn’t make it.
Ginnie came to us, only 3 weeks old, dumped in a box at a kindergarten. Ginnie was infested with worms, was very skinny and unwell, despite her pain she managed to give more love and affection than I’m sure she was ever shown. Ginnie blessed us with her presence for only 3 days, and the last one was spent on a drip. It soon became obvious that Ginnie was not going to get better and we made the choice to send her to a better place. Ginnie, a Kelpie x deserved so much more. If only her previous owners had wormed her she wouldn’t have had such a painful last few days. If only her previous owners had desexed their female dog this would never have happened. If only they had taken Ginnie to a vet. I’d like to thank Rhonda of Yarraville Village Animal Hospital and the girls there who cared for Ginnie in her last hours and gave her the compassion she deserved – what lovely people they are.

We take on kittens and pups a few times a year, if you’re interested in adopting a kitten or a pup into your house hold please don’t hesitate to contact me onsitepets@optusnet.com.au. If you’re ready to take on an animal but I don’t have any available, don’t forget the wonderful shelters out there who have an excess of animals, young and old, both cats and dogs.
Lost Dogs Home, Lort Smith, RSPCA, SADS, Animal Aid, Blue Cross all do a great job.
There are also websites out there where you can find an animal that needs a second chance at life
Check out our links page for other rescue organisations.
